This past week has been so cold that I cannot get warm. It was beautiful and sunny out today but I arrived at work when it was still cold and it was cloudy, with the rains coming in when I walked home. The wind blows right through me.

I cannot get warm.

It’s the fatigue. The longer we are isolated, the deeper the fatigue and the cold penetrate. It’s impossible to beat them.

I feel as if I’ve suddenly arrived in Narnia, where winter rules.

Do you remember Narnia?

With Mr. Tumnus the faun, and the Beavers, keeping the faith for Aslan through the White Witch’s long winter?

There was no warmth in Narnia either and in my cold daydream, I am in Narnia.

But as I walk along, I am not Lucy on the adventure. I am the Warrior who will be turned into stone.

I cannot get warm.

(This is an image of the stone Warriors from the Narnia movie. Narnia was created by C.S. Lewis in the book The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. If you haven’t read it…well, you should. I am off tomorrow and I am going to read it again. It will make thaw me out for my net adventure!”

    Hi Gail,

The best Narnia book for thawing out is the Voyage of the Dawn Treader! So much joy! Helen

Helen, thank you for reading my blog – I love all the Narnia books, but that feeling of cold settling in really reminded me of what it must have felt like under the White Witch’s spell.
